Tyrone Rodriguez, DDS


Dr. Rodriguez is a graduate from Brown University with an Sc. B. degree in Neuroscience. He was involved in research for two years in Baylor College of Medicine's, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics Department.  As his desire to share knowledge with others grew, he decided to make the transition into education and became a high school Science teacher for five years, in inner city Houston, TX, participating in the Master of Arts Teaching program at Rice University and was awarded a "Teacher of the Year" recognition from HISD.  In 2000, Tyrone entered University of Texas Dental Branch (UTDB) at Houston, where he became actively involved with the student body and served for three years as student Chapter President for the HDA, helping the chapter grow to receive the first ever Procter and Gamble "Orgullo Award" and then went on to serve his senior year as the student body president for the UT-Houston Medical Center the world's largest medical center. While attending UTDB, he received multiple local, state, and national awards for community service, mission trips, leadership, recruitment, and research projects including national recognition from Dentsply/SCADA for his award winning Dental Student Table Clinic in 2003. He was also a founding member of the Greater Houston Hispanic Dental Association.  Graduating in 2004 with his DDS degree, he was awarded the "Texas-Senior of the Year Award" by the Texas Dental Association. 

Dr. Rodriguez, went on to University of Texas at San Antonio for his residency in Pediatric Dentistry, where he was the sole national recipient of the Samuel D. Harris Fellowship from the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for Children's Health Care Advocacy and Policy in Chicago, IL and Washington, DC. While a Pediatric Dental resident, Dr. Rodriguez, also helped establish the Greater San Antonio Hispanic Dental Association (GSAHDA) and served as the first president for this professional chapter.  Dr. Rodriguez is also a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and is involved with two residency programs, University of Washington's, Yakima Valley Pediatric Dental Residency and is the Pediatric Dental Director for the AEGD Northwest residency in conjunction with Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinics and Children's Village in Yakima, WA.

Dr. Rodriguez enjoys lecturing and has done so for many dental societies, meetings, and universities around the country. Dr. Rodriguez, has served on multiple committees for the HDA including: Strategic Plannning, Annual Meeting, Governance, Membership and Recruitment and Student Commitees.  Dr. Rodriguez, is a member of the following organizations, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry serving on its Council for Communications, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Southwest Pediatric Dental Society, American Dental Association, Washington Dental Association, Central Washington-Cleft Lip and Palate-Team Director for Presurgical Nasal Alveolar Molding, Yakima Valley Dental Society, Hispanic Dental Assocation, SCADA, American Orthodontic Society, and MENSA.

Dr. Rodriguez calls Yakima, WA his home since 2006 where he is married to his wife of 16 years, Victoria, and having three children, Katherine (age 14), Leonardo (age 10), and Nikolas (age 7).
