Awards and Honors


  2004-05 HDA President  R. Iván Lugo, DMD, MBA received an award for his outstanding dedication and service during an extremely successful year. Current President, Mario Ramos, DMD presenting.

This year brought the initiation of the “First Annual Mario Ramos, DMD Award for Outstanding Dedication and Contributions to the Mission of the Hispanic Dental Association."  The 2005 Award was presented to Maria Teresa Canto, DDS, MS, MPH for her continuing contributions through her 15 year membership.

  HDA officially chartered two new regional chapters at this year’s meeting. HDA Executive Director Becky Jeppesen made the presentations.

 Merrill Lynch, appreciating the value of the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation, contributed $1,000 to the HDAF General Fund to benefit Hispanics seeking an education in a dental profession. HDA STUDENT PROGRAM

The student attendees, totaling 107, came together for a program of speakers, dinner, and individual presentations by student chapters regarding their activities, and structure.

Francisco Carlos, Student member of HDA Board of Trustees presided.

Subsequently, students met to form a Student Advisory Committee. For more information, see: Student Advisory Committee.
