Tatiana Ramirez, RDH, MEd

Mrs. Tatiana Ramirez-McBride RDH, MEd, is the dental hygienist for the Fort Bend Family Health Center. She has enjoyed providing oral education and removal of dental disease to many underserved families. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Houston-Downtown, her Dental Hygiene certificate from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston-Dental Branch, and her graduate degree in a Master of Education with emphasis in health sciences from The University of Houston.

During her dental hygiene education, she was class president, president of the Student American Dental Hygienists Association, and vice president of the Student Hispanic Dental Association. As a student, she organized and attended many community service events for both organizations. Mrs. Ramirez-McBride was the recipient of the Juan D. Villarreal Scholarship, and the Community Service Award from the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists Association. She remembers going to many community service events with her mother as a child and attributes her passion to making a difference in people's lives and her leadership desire to her mother who was a role model to her and to many other Hispanics.

As the dental hygienist at Fort Bend Family Health Center, she has had the opportunity to teach and to be a role model for dental hygiene students from the University of Texas Health Science Center-Dental Branch and also from Wharton County Junior College. The students come to the clinic and spend several days each semester observing and performing procedures to our patients under her supervision.

After graduating from hygiene school, she became active in the American Dental Hygienists Associations serving as the SADHA Liaison and as vice president the following year. She is also an active member the Greater Houston Hispanic Dental Association. She was the treasurer for several years and then she was the president for the 2009 year. Since 2005, she has served on many committees for HDA. She began in 2005 with the scholarship committee, then she was on the silent auction committee, and on the governance committee. She has been an HDA Board of Trustee for 4 years and has enjoyed seeing the organization advance in the mission.
