 Henry Fischbach, DDS
Bio: 

Originaly from Puerto Rico and a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus, Dr. Fischbach began his dental education in 1982 and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1986. He worked as an associate in private practice for ten years, after which he and his wife established a private practice in Canal Winchester Ohio. He began his academic career in 1996 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and several years later was promoted to Associate Professor. Currently, Dr. Fischbach is the director of Comprehensive Clinic IV. His primary responsibility is to ensure adequate clinical progress towards graduation of approximately fifty three students whom he supervises for a period of two years as well as addressing patient, faculty, and staff issues and concerns. As a clinical instructor in an academic environment, Dr. Fischbach has had the opportunity and resources to serve the dental needs of the Hispanic community of central Ohio. La Clinica Latina-Dental is a program he established in early 2000 to provide free dental services to this under served community. The value of these services is being recognized by the college, and this year the program will become part of the student community outreach program known as the "Ohio Project" becoming a required educational experience for students. A fully equipped dental van, known as the C.O.A.C.H. van, will be used to provide full dental services to this community at no cost. Dr. Fischbach feels that serving with the Hispanic Dental Association allows him to influence the well being and future of Hispanic community at a national level.

 Lilia Larin, DDS
Bio:

Dr. Larin resides in Chula Vista, California where she owns a private dental practice. She obtained her dental degree in Mexico and her California license in 1989 in the first wave of Hispanic female professionals to practice in the U.S.  Dr. Lilia Larin is the current and  87th President of the American Association of Women Dentists and the fist Hispanic President ever in the AAWD  history . In 2007 Dr. Larin received the  AAWD President's Award for distinguished service and on  October 17, 2008. she will be honored for her service to AAWD in San Antonio Texas.  Dr. Larin's commitment to her profession is reflected by her record of service. She is the Immediate Past- President of the San Diego Chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry. She has been  President of the San Diego Association of Women Dentists, President and co-founder of the Hispanic Dental Association's San Diego Binational Chapter, and is a past member of the Hispanic Dental Association's National Board of Trustees. Dr. Larin has also served on various other boards and committees for the AGD national association, the California Dental Association, San Diego Share the Care, San Diego Dental Health Coalition, Welcome Back: International Health Care Worker's Assistance Program, KPBS's "First 5 Kid's Health Assurance Network," California-Mexico Binational Health Care Week, and California-Mexico Health Initiative Task Force. Dr Larin is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Academy of Dentistry International. She is also a member of Damas Latinas of San Diego, a distinguished non-profit community service organization. Dr Larin's accomplishments have been highlighted by her establishment of the HDA  and the AAWD  Silent Auction which have earned thousand's of dollars over the years for both organizations. She is an advocate for access to care and has organized many continuing education educational courses for dentists over the years.  Her latest projects include the development and implementation of the AAWD's new strategic plan and the introduction of AAWD's first ever "Best New Dental Product for Women Award". Dr. Larin has been married for 24 years and has three children. As a Hispanic dentist she takes great satisfaction in providing a role model for the younger generation of Hispanics. Dr. Larin is very honored to be nominated for Treasurer of the Hispanic Dental Association.

 Irubiel Barbosa, DDS
Bio:

Dr. Irubiel Barbosa received his DDS degree from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and did a fellowship of prosthodontics in Japan for two years.  In 1982, the Japanese government granted him a scholarship to study prosthodontics for two years. He worked for five years in the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in the Cranial/Facial Department, in the dental section working with a team of plastic surgeons, orthopedic, maxillofacial, orthodontics, pedodontics, speech therapy, etc., doing treatment on very compromised patients. He is the founder and first President of the Hispanic Dental Association Los Angeles Professional Chapter. Dr. Barbosa is very proud to be a member of the HDA. He feels the Association's mission coincides with his ideals and involvement related to educational and communitarian issues related to dental health. As a local leader, he is developing a plan to increase the access of Hispanic students' enrollment in dental schools in combination with California Dental University, USC, UCLA, AND LOMA LINDA UNIVERSITY. Dr. Barbosa gives conferences in local elementary schools and colleges to motivate the students to get into the dental field. The local HDA chapter is very active with the sponsorship of the health fair in combination with the Mexican Council. He participates as a volunteer and organizes free/low-cost dental screening for children at the Children Dental Center and his private dental office. He has been involved with the Bi-national Healthcare Fair Mexico and USA. Dr. Barbosa also volunteers at the USC Dental School for the "Give Kid's a Smile" program. In his office, he gives no cost dental treatment to 55 students from the community elementary school. He advocates efforts for Hispanic dentists to prepare for the Restorative Exam (bench) and also for the State Board Exam, free of charge. He is the President of Latinos for Dental Careers. Dr. Barbosa works hard to increase the local chapter and has worked on various campaigns and partnered with other groups in organized dentistry when necessary to represent dentists in general and to promote oral health. Dr. Barbosa is hopeful the HDA of Los Angeles will continue to promote and cultivate a collaboration of productive relationships with other ethnic associations to represent the needs of dentists in general. He is currently a HDA Board of Trustee and feels it is truly an honor to be nominated for another term.

 C. Yolanda Bonta, DMD, MS, MS
Bio:

C. Yolanda Bonta, DMD, MS, MS is currently the President of HealthKnowledge, Consulting, Somerset, NJ. During her 17 year career at Colgate - Palmolive, Dr. Bonta has held a series of management positions in the areas of Clinical Research, New Product Technologies and Professional Product Development. Her achievements have contributed to both Colgate's technical enrichment as well as business growth. Dr. Bonta's DMD is from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine and she is a graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo with a Certificate in Periodontology. She also holds Masters degrees in Clinical Microbiology and Oral Biology. During her career at, she has interfaced globally with key opinion leaders across various specialties, defined strategies to build stronger relationships with dental and hygiene schools, and created outstanding scientific publications that have permeated the dental community with their creative and innovative topics. She is well known throughout the dental industry for her passionate leadership and her steadfast determination to promote innovation and excellence in the field of dentistry. Dr. Bonta is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentists International, member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, American Association for Dental Research, Past President of Board of Directors Friends of the National Institute of Dental and Craneofacial Research (FNIDCR) and Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Student Clinicians of the ADA (SCADA). Dr. Bonta is a current HDA Board of Trustee.

 Manuel Cordero, DDS, MAGD
Bio:

Dr. Cordero is a graduate of Haverford College which he attended on a full scholarship established by Dr. Jose Padín. Dr. Padín was the first puertorrican Secretary of Education in the history of the commonwealth. He graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1983 and was the first Hispanic student to graduate from this school since the previous twenty years. He belongs to the Academy of Operative Dentistry and is currently serving in the Seminars Committee. He was recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists in 2005. He belongs to the Academy of Richard V. Tucker Study Clubs. He is also a founder of Club # 40 and a past operator and clinician of the Tucker Annual meeting in Munster Germany. Finally, he is a national trustee of the AGD as well as a past active member that has been heavily involved in the development of their Public Relations programs and publications. He has two private offices where he practices comprehensive restorative dentistry.

 Aldo Sordelli, DDS, MSD
Bio:

Dr. Aldo Sordelli graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela Dental School in 1994. In his early professional years, he practiced general dentistry and was assistant professor of Biomaterials at Universidad central de Venezuela. He received his Certificate in Periodontics and his Master of Science in Dentistry from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1999. He then completed a one-year Implant Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Certificate in Implant Dentistry in 2000. He has since then maintained a full time private practice limited to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Houston, and has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Dr. Sordelli is board eligible of the American Board of Periodontology and is Past President of the Greater Houston Society of Periodontists. Currently he is the President of the Greater Houston Hispanic Dental Association. He was presented with the "Swenson Award to Clinical Excellency" by Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis. Dr. Sordelli has lectured many continuing education programs throughout the United States and abroad.  Dr. Sordelli is a current HDA Board of Trustee.
