Volunteer Dentists/Oral Surgeons Needed
to Assist with Oral Health Initiative in Honduras

Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) is recruiting dentists and oral surgeons to fulfill two week volunteer assignments at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras in El Valle de Sula (UNAH-VS). Volunteers will assist the dental school faculty with clinical and didactic instruction by providing training to the dental students on new clinical techniques, infection control issues and the basic science behind evidence-based dentistry. Continuing education lectures and demonstrations are also requested for the local dentists and faculty at UNAH-VS.

HVO is a private nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality and availability of health care in developing countries through the training and education of local health care providers. By emphasizing teaching and training rather than direct patient care, HVO aims to create a group of trained local health care providers who can teach others in their communities.

HVO's Oral Health Initiative programs are sponsored by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the American Dental Association (ADA). To learn more about this opportunity, contact:

The goals of this website are to promote volunteerism, to share information about international volunteering with ADA members and the public, to connect potential dental volunteers with appropriate organizations, and to ultimately increase the oral health services available to populations in need by increasing the number of trained oral health workers.
