Procter & Gamble/Hispanic Dental Association Orgullo Program

2009 Orgullo Competition for HDA Student Chapters

The Hispanic Dental Association is again delighted to present this exciting competition for our Student Chapters.  This competition is designed to accomplish two important goals:  Outreach and Recruitment.  In order to participate, each Student Chapter must accomplish a minimum of three activities.

•1.       Procter & Gamble Crest Community Outreach Program

The outreach program can be geared toward any age group, from pre-elementary to senior citizen.

The outreach portion of the competition is designed to be a delivery of services such as oral screenings and oral health education (for example, providing services at a community health fair).

Procter & Gamble will provide products and printed educational materials (English and/or Spanish) for your events.  If you would like additional education information, please visit the Procter & Gamble Professional Oral Health website at http://www.dentalcare.com/.  Click PATIENT EDUCATION to access patient education sheets available in many different languages.

•2.       Hispanic Dental Association Recruitment Program

The recruitment portion of the competition is recommended for middle school or high school students.

The object of this program is to encourage young Hispanics to strive for a career in dentistry.  This can be accomplished during the same outreach programs discussed above or at specific events such as high school career days.

The Student Chapter is encouraged to be creative and informative.

Getting Started

First, return the Orgullo Intention Form to the Hispanic Dental Association at the email address below.

Once all intention forms have been received, the following will take place:

·          A contact list of participating Student Chapters will be forwarded to Procter & Gamble.

·          A grant of "spending money" will be given to each Student Chapter for use in purchasing the Procter & Gamble products.  (IMPORTANT:  Procter & Gamble is holding each chapter accountable for how the money is spent.  The intent of the entire grant money is for the purchase of Procter & Gamble products.  As a means of accountability, Procter & Gamble is requesting that receipts of purchases be kept and attached to the poster.)

·          A Procter & Gamble representative will contact each participating Student Chapter with a product catalog and order form.  (NOTE:  Per Procter & Gamble requirements, purchases must be made by credit card - Visa or Mastercard.)

·          An order form will be provided to each Student Chapter to use in ordering the Procter & Gamble educational printed materials (printed in English and/or Spanish).
