Guest Speakers:

Edwin A. del Valle Sepulveda, DMD, JD is a Board-Certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience. After completing a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, he entered the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine earning his DMD in 1986. He completed a Postgraduate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certificate in the University of Puerto Rico Hospitals in San Juan, PR. He also has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.

For decades he has been an active member of the medical and dental community by participating in several professional organizations. He has been multi-term president of the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Puerto Rico (CCDPR) and the Puerto Rico Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (PRSOMS). For more than 15 years he has been a delegate in the American Dental Association (ADA) House of Delegates.

He is currently Attending Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the GPR Program of the Veterans Administration Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) in San Juan, PR.

Dr. Raymond Gist is a general dentist from Flint, Michigan, served as 151st president of the American Dental Association (2010-11). He is the first and only African American to have served as the highest officer in the most prestigious and oldest professional association of dentists in the US. He is a member of the ADA, Academy of General Dentists, National Dental Association and HDA. He is a past president of the Michigan Dental Association and past ADA District 9 Trustee (Wisconsin & Michigan). Dr. Gist is Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Throughout his career as a dentist, Dr. Gist has mentored many young dentists and oral healthcare professionals.
