Speaker Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Alfonso Aguilera, DDS received his degree from The Universidad Autonóma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico in 2001. From 2005 to 2008, he completed a 2-year General Practice residency and a 1-year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Puerto Rico. Upon completion of the residency, in 2008 Dr. Aguilera joined the Department of General Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Currently he is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Health Science Center. His teaching duties include didactic presentations as well as clinical supervision to AEGD residents mainly but not limited to Advanced Oral Surgery procedures such as third molar extractions, Lateral alveolar ridge augmentation, open and close sinus floor lift elevation, etc. Dr. Aguilera served as Program Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 2010 to 2012 and now he continue supervising AEGD residents and providing dental care on Faculty Practice to his own patients.
