CE Series: Whats Special About Special Care Dentistry

According to the US Census Bureau, approximately 1 out of 5 Americans have a disability. Providing oral health care to individuals with disabilities may require modifications to the delivery of treatment and the types of treatment delivered. This course is targeted towards dental health providers who endeavor to identify strategies that increase their ability to deliver dental care to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD), acquired disabilities, and other individuals with special healthcare needs. Speaker Biographical Sketch: Dr. Mai-Ly Duong - Mai-Ly (My-Lee) received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from A.T. Still University. She serves as a full-time Associate Professor and Director of Special Care Dentistry at the A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in The Center for Advanced Oral Health. She works to support students, AEGD residents, and faculty treating individuals with special needs and complex medical conditions. She also works as a part-time associate dentist in private practice.
